“I don’t know why you’re interested in me…”

by on August 18, 2011

“I don’t know why you’re interested in me – I’m not likely to become a Christian you know.” So said a slightly puzzled friend to two of our team who were visiting this week. They had just invited her family to lunch with the team.

We get these comments a bit – usually from more direct and upfront types. Who knows how many others wonder the same thing but don’t say so?

We love this sort of question – it’s what we’re hoping for. If we’re doing a good job of being friendly to strangers, it ought to be a bit different for them. That’s the point about Jesus and his team, right?

We’re hoping people will wonder about our motives. Christian’s neighbour told him how another neighbour asked her, ‘What’s he doing here? Has he come to convert us? He doesn’t seem to be…’

Love it.
