More trouble from Elephants

by on August 20, 2011

There was so much interest in our Luke studies, I decided to push on and write up chapter 2. This is where things really hot up in terms of the Lukan Elephant: all those expectations Luke raises that we traditionally ignore, leaving us with a boring and incoherent reading of Luke-Acts.

In this chapter, Luke gets into politics; a Spirit-filled prophet of old makes an unexpected appearance. And Jesus has a practice-run at claiming the temple in Jerusalem as his own.

We also introduce Luke’s peculiar use of numbers…

By the end of chapter 2, you’ll have a whole bunch of questions that you probably won’t find answers to in the Luke commentaries on your shelf (if you have the misfortune to own any…).

I’ve developed and simplified the intro material a bit further, too.

Good luck!

P.S. Ok so I was exaggerating about the commentaries.

Slightly.
