Carols tonight!

by on December 16, 2011

Lots of events at the moment. Not my favourite thing, but we try to get the most out of them.

Here’s what we’re doing for our carols night:

Free BBQ for the whole Canterbury community, 6.30 pm with:

  • real food that cost real money!
  • Tear shop open, where people can buy items for disadvantaged people in other countries.
  • Music items during dinner: jazz Christmas numbers on piano, italian arias on Soprano!

Carols at 7.30, including:

  • bible story telling of the Christmas story by the kids, like we did at the Scripture assembly (see last post)
  • a song from the Tongan church kids
  • an Italian carol sung by local Italians
  • Christmas greetings invited from the crowd in every language possible
  • Short talk from Campbell the rector about the angels’ message to the shepherds
  • passing around the bucket for Tear. Goal for the evening: to buy a cow from the shop!
  • lighting candles when it starts to get dark
  • presents for all the kids who come
  • plus lots of Christmas carols sung by everyone

We’ve letterbox-dropped about 2000 homes. Praying for a good turn-out.

How does that sound? Have we forgotten anything important?

If you’re free tonight we’d love to have you along – come for dinner!

Please pray for us tonight!
