Forty damp people in one room

by on April 7, 2014

Painted handprintsWe’d invited some neighbours for Sunday lunch. The church family knew our place was open for lunch. If everyone came, there’d be a lot, but that was ok – our back yard is huge.

They all came. And it rained.

So there everyone was in our living room: old and young, Africans, Latin Americans, Italians, Lebanese, Nepalis, Anglos: all together. All damp. All noisy. It was pretty exciting!

We made pies, lots of pies. We found something for those off meat for Lent. We tried to introduce all the neighbours to each other.

And I said to them all: look around the room. Everyone here is a neighbour of yours. Next time you see them on the street, you’ll know them.

People seemed pretty happy about that. There was a good vibe. I told them, the person who has made this possible is Jesus.

And we gave thanks.
